Thursday, 8 January, 7:00-8:30pm, in the Great Hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Humanist Forum President Staci Maney will lead a discussion of "Humanism versus Nihilism." At the same time there will be Humanist Education for children aged 5-12 in the Green classroom of the RE wing. Childcare provided for children 4 years old and younger.

"Humanism and Nihilism - where our philosophies diverge and how to help people understand how we differ."

Many religious people assume that because we do not believe in God or a "higher purpose", we must be nihilistic (even if they don't know the term for it.).  This discussion will cover how we differ and will hopefully come up with ideas on how to explain to people how we create our own purpose and meaning in life.  We will listen to part of a RadioLab Podcast to start the discussion and Staci will lead from there.
