Science is not enough. The stereotypical view of Humanism as a purely rational worldview, centered on a third–person perspective of the world, has become obsolete.  Science, itself, has demonstrated that we are hard-wired for empathy and connection.  Moreover, members of the most rapidly growing segment of Americans consider themselves to be “spiritual but not religious.” Whole person Humanism integrates first-person experience, second-person empathy, and third-person rationality into a life stance that can fully appreciate the wonder and celebrate the awe of being alive. Sunday, April 6, 2014 during its 10 am Worship Service, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester will host the 2nd Annual Irving and Annabel Wolfson Memorial Lecture on Liberal Religion. The lecture, established in 2012 from a bequest of Dr. Irving Wolfson, retired local cardiologist and long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester, is devoted in part to answering the following: “Irving and Annabel Wolfson were agnostics who tried to live by the highest moral standards.
